The high-quality finish font is well balanced when laid out horizontally or vertically, but when such a layout is used on a watch dial, the balance is invariably disrupted.
With this watch, the number 2 is subtly different in the 2 of the 2 o’clock marker than it is in the 12 o’clock marker. With the 2 in 12 o’clock, the horizontal lines are long, the center of gravity is at the bottom and the impression is one of stability; the bottom left pointed part of the 2 of 2 o’clock has been pulled slightly toward the center of the dial; adjustments have been made so as to achieve an overall balance. The numbers 4 and 7 – which from their very nature, as well as their positioning, tend to appear smaller – are larger than the other numbers. This consideration to detail has been applied for all numbers and overall balance has been achieved, with this round watch with Arabic numerals as its focus being the result. |
